Are We Dumbing Down Just When We Need To Be Smartening Up?
Existential AI angst in a post that the algorithm likely won't want you to see
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm bored of posts written by Chat GPT.
What's more, after reading an article in the New Yorker this morning (see link in comments) about AI homogenising our thoughts and reducing the activity in our brains, I'm starting to seriously question the purpose of handing AI over to the masses.
Is it really a great leap forward for humanity that we are now thinking less critically and being less imaginative than ever before (at a time when we arguably need more critical thinking skills and creative solutions than ever to navigate our way through catastrophic world events fuelled by narcissistic world leaders and billionaires)?
I don't know the answer (I wish I did), but my hunch is that genuine human connection is our first line of defence.
That's why I haven't written this post with the help of Chat GPT (sorry Frankie, not today).
It's also why I'll clearly state (in non-homogenous text), that if you're a mother who is struggling to flourish, I am here to offer you a safe space in which to move past your current blockers and unpack what you need to get back on track.
I'm a trained, accredited positive psychology-informed coach with lived experience of maternal guilt and all of the challenges that motherhood (and working motherhood) brings.
When you choose to work with me, I will gently and expertly guide you through my five step flourishing framework, which is informed by my further study in the sociology of motherhood studies and aims to help you understand the bigger picture (i.e. why it's so hard for modern mothers to flourish).
Being mindful of my own capacity as the default parent in my family, juggling motherhood with running my own business, I have decided to open up just two spaces to work with me in my 6 month 1:1 Reframe coaching container, starting in September.
If this post has spoken to you and you'd like one of those spaces, drop me a DM for more info.
You're not failing, by the way. Society is failing you.

I agree, that is why I startedy substack
This was a good read Belinda! I totally agree, which is why I’ve always had mixed feelings about AI. I do think it helps with things like outlines and getting clarity for certain business decisions, but using it to write entire 1000 word articles is wild to me. Definitely needs to be tapered back a bit.💪💪
